ATHLETIC NEWS:
The pre-season meeting for those students interested in running CROSS COUNTRY (boys & girls) this fall is Tuesday, June 9th at 3 pm in room 204.
There will be a brief meeting for any girls interested in playing SUMMER BASKETBALL at 3 pm in room 119 on Monday, June 9th.
The SPRING SPORTS AWARDS PROGRAM will be this evening starting at 6:30 pm. Please dress appropriately.
Newfound’s TRACK AND FIELD season came to a positive end this Saturday at the Meet of Champions. Dan Towle finished 14th in the discus. Maegan Patten threw the shot 1′6″ further than her best to finish 12th and she finished 10th in the discus. The boys’ 4×8 team of Dustin Sewall, Tyler Parker, Kerry Mattson, and Derek Mitchell finished 15th. The boys’ 4×4 team of Dustin Sewall, Derek Mitchell, Bob Deragon, and Chris Plankey finished 14th. The girls’ 4×4 relay team set a personal best of 4:27 thanks to Katie Dorey’s 68-second run. Emma Erler finshed 8th, just missing New Englands by two seconds. The best news of the day was a 5th place finish by Chris Plankey in the 800 meter in a sub two-minute time of 1:59.2. This qualified him for the New England Championships. Congratulations to all the boys and girls who were at the meet and to the entire track team for a wonderful season!
