Any students from the class of 2012 or 2013 that are planning on participating in the MOOSEMAN FUNDRAISER need to see their class advisor as soon as possible. There are two forms that need to be filled out.

SENIORS: There is one more scholarship in Guidance for students planning to go to college to become a teacher. This Scholarship is the Verna C. Matthews Scholarship.  The Due Date is June 1^st. Anyone interested in this scholarship, see Ms. Bliss as soon as possible.

ATTENTION SENIORS—this is very important: the Guidance Department needs to know what your plans are after graduation. This includes all plans for college, military or work.  PLEASE take a moment to stop by and tell us ASAP as we need to account for each of you.  Thank you for your cooperation.

JUNIORS: Turn in your early senior project proposals this week as they are being judged this friday!! All juniors by now should have checked in with their mentors!!

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS

Varsity baseball lost to Somersworth 10-0 and varsity softball lost 4-3, in 8 innings. JV baseball lost 8-1 while the JV’s also lost 23-10.

The JV baseball and softball teams will be hosting Berlin in doubleheaders this afternoon starting at 3:30pm.

Here are the results from this weekend’s Wilderness League Track Championship at Kennett: Newfound Boys’ track managed 38 and a half points for a 7^th place finish out of seventeen teams who scored this past weekend at Kennett for the Wilderness League Championship. High scorer with 10 points was Zac Morel who finished 4^th in the 1600m and third in the 3200m. Almost matching him with 9 points was Dustin Sewall. Dustin managed our best finish overall with a 2^nd in the 800 meter and also was a member of the 4 by 4 team that finished 4^th. Derek Mitchell contributed 6 points as a member of the 4 by 8 team that finished 4^th, also a member of the 4 by 4 and finished 4^th in the 300 meter hurdles. Riley Smith had five points with a tie for 4^th in the pole vault, a tie for 5^th in the 110 meter hurdles and was a member of the 4 by 1 team that finished 5^th. Arved Wallenfels finished 4^th in the long jump and was also a member of the 4 by 1. Rounding out the 4 by 1 was Sam Harmon and Jake Morel. Tyler Parker and Kerry Mattson were the other members of both the 4 by 4 and the 4 by 8 relay teams.

The girls’ track team finished 7^th out of 16 teams. They were led by Maegan Patten who finished 1^st in the discus and 3^rd in the shot put. Abby Erler finished 5^th in the 800 and the two relay teams, the 4 by 4 and the 4 by 8 finished 3^rd and 4^th to round out the scoring.

Nicely done and congratulations to both teams who competed at the Championship. The State Meet for Class M and S will be at Winnisquam this coming Saturday. Please come and support the teams.

Attention college-bound juniors:  You are invited to attend a college fair on Thursday, April 29th from 3 to 5pm at Colby-Sawyer College.  This is a great event to learn about 100 different colleges from all parts of the country.

Newfound Track and Field was rewarded with some wonderful weather this past Saturday and everyone there rose to the occasion. Once again the athletes were excellent hosts to Gilford, Franklin, Mascenic and Concord Christian. The boys scored a whopping 155 points in their victory in the meet. In individual events Riley Smith and Brendan Adair took 1-2 in the high hurdles; Kerry Mattson and Mike Bruning duplicated this order in the 400 meter. Even more impressive were the first, second and third sweeps. Derek Mitchell led Riley Smith and Brendan Adair in the 300 Hurdles; Dustin Sewall was followed by Tyler Parker and Zac Morel in the 800 meter and Zac decided to have a Newfound parade in the 1600 meter leading Jake Lundberg and Jesse Mitchell. We also had victories in the jumps with Arved Wallenfels in the Long Jump and Jake Morel in the Triple Jump. Newfound also won both relays with Dustin, Derek, Tyler and Kerry in the 4 by 4 and Sam Harmon, Riley, Derek and Jake Morel in the 4 by 1. Quite the day for the team–well done and thank you for all your efforts.

The girls also came in first in the five-team meet. They were led by triple winner Maeghan Patten as she won the shot, discus and javelin. Other first-place winners were Victoria Spencer in the hurdles, Abby Erler in the 400, Sandra Rovick in the 200, and Allison Dorey in the 300 hurdles. Great effort, ladies!

There are two days left to get your tickets for this year’s prom – Dancing in the Garden of Lights.  Tickets are on sale today and tomorrow at all lunches.  Don’t miss out!

Attention all students: Tickets for the performance of the musical Cats at the Capitol Center for the Arts, Sunday April 25th are now on sale to upperclassmen. Please see Mr. Harlow in room 216 to purchase your ticket for $25 which includes transportation from  NRHS.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be performed on the Newfound stage this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available from Ms. Wiencek. The cost for students is only $5.

The TTCC is still looking for umpires and will be having a training this Thursday, 6pm at the TTCC.

Varsity softball lost to 3-time defending champion Franklin 3-0 in a great game.

In another great game, varsity baseball lost to defending champion Franklin, 9-6 in extra innings.

JV baseball defeated Franklin 13-7 while JV softball lost 14-2, in a game much closer than the score indicates.

Would those students who volunteered to usher at the performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat please see Ms. Wiencek sometime today?

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be performed on the Newfound stage this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available from Ms. Wiencek. The cost for students is only $5.

This will be the last week the TTCC is taking sign-ups for Babe Ruth Baseball. There will be a try-out this Saturday, April 17th, 3pm at Kelley Park.~ Call or stop by the TTCC to register.
