We encourage students to drop off their suggestions in the ballot box that will be placed in the cafeteria.  The Winter Carnival committee will then narrow the choices down and students will vote on the theme when we return from Thanksgiving break.

Get your class ahead of the game for Winter Carnival by donating soup to the canned soup drive. We will be collecting canned goods during lunches until Wednesday. This year the class with the most cans will get 200 Winter Carnival points, 2^nd place will get 100, and 3^rd will get 50. Each can of soup will count as 2 points to your class’s total amount of cans, while other canned goods will only count for 1 point. The cans will be donated to help people in need. The winning class will be announced November 25^th.

• The field hockey team won their 2^nd consecutive championship and 3^rd in the past four years with an exciting 2-0 victory over Winnisquam. Congratulations to Coach Peterson and the team.

• Football defeated Raymond, 38-12.

• The Boys Cross Country team finished 7^th out of 21 teams, Zac Morel finished 5^th to qualify for the Meet of Champions next Saturday. He was followed by Jake Lundberg, Sean Coleman, Dustin Sewall, Jake Morel and Mike Bruning. Please turn in your uniforms to Mr. Mills this week.

• Congratulations to Vee Santry as she finished 17^th in the Girls Cross Country class meet to qualify her for the Meet of Champions next Saturday. She was followed by Nicole Stevens, Kelly Meegan, Jess Yeaton and Katie Dorey which helped the team to finish 10^th. Please turn in your uniforms to Coach Bliss this week.

The two-person timed cross country run is tonight, and the Duke Cup will be Wednesday right after school. The cross country team invites anyone who wants to run to come and join us on Wednesday.

Football will be at Raymond tonight at 7pm, and the cross country teams will be at the State Class M Championship in Manchester at 1pm on Saturday.

In playoff action:

• Volleyball lost to Sunapee, 3-0.
• Boy’s soccer lost to White Mt. 2-0.

Congratulations to both teams for their fine seasons.

And for the 4th year in a row, the field hockey team has advanced to the State Championship with their exciting 3-2 victory over Derryfield, on a goal in overtime by senior Kat Simula.

The Bears will now play Winnisquam in the State Finals at 2:30pm on Sunday at Bedford High School. There will be a reception for the team at the high school when they return.

Today NRHS is hosting 49 colleges and universities in our college mini-fair from 10 to 11am.  The college reps will be placed throughout the halls and the lobby in the main part of the school.  Students should come to the fair with their teachers during the designated time.  Remember, students: you are making a first impression on the college representatives that will read your college applications.
